Board of Directors Meeting in Philadelphia
Date: January 28, 2012
The BoD is having a meeting in Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, January 28th.  After the meeting we are meeting with other alums for dinner & drinks in Philly.  The final location will be dependent on the turnout but we are looking at places in downtown Philly and Manyunk so that it is central to Phi Taus in PA, Delaware, and NJ.

Your wives and girlfriends are welcome to attend as well and many of the BoD will have their wives with them.

If you are interested, or have questions, then you can reach me (chrisnesselrode@yahoo.com) or David Lapinski (davidclapinski@aol.com).  Please lets us know that you will join us by Sunday January 8 so that I can make all of the necessary arrangements.

Hope to see you there!

The "Best of Times" Reunion
Date: June 15, 2012 to June 17, 2012
The Brothers from the 1950’s will again celebrate the "Best of Times” at a reunion  in June 2012. Three years ago, 40 “Old Phi Tau’s” who graduated in the 50’s, visited the Chapter House for a 2 day reunion. It was such a success that they all voted to do it again in 3 years. Waiting longer than that could push some old timers into their 80’s!!

Finding Comfort in Our Community
“In a cold world, you still need your friends to keep you warm.” (The Big Chill, 1983)

As we say goodbye to Coach Paterno, Penn Staters everywhere can take comfort in friends and in the deep sense of community that we are so fortunate to enjoy as Penn State alumni. Looking back, Joe played a role in the best times of our lives – from tailgating to Bowl trips to games at Beaver Stadium.

For many of us, they still continue to this day. Joe’s passing reminds us of what is most important in life: our lifelong connections to those who mean the most, including our Phi Tau brothers.

There are plenty of opportunities to celebrate being a part of the Penn State community with the friends you met there:

Board of Directors Meeting in Philadelphia - January 28
THON – February 17-19. You can honor Joe’s wish (a fraternity guy himself) by making a donation to this great cause.
Blue/White Weekend – April 20-22
The "Best of Times" Reunion - June 15-17
Arts Fest – July 12-15

Share your plans to reunite with brothers in Happy Valley, your fondest memories of Joe, how you'll remember him, or your condolences by clicking here.

The Screaming Ducks are Back!
A message from John Cunningham of the Screaming Ducks.

Just wanted to let you know that the Ducks are alive and kicking!

We have scheduled our 28th (egad) anniversary gig for Saturday, February 25th at The Arena in State College.  We are also playing at the Arena on Saturday, April 21st, which is Blue/White weekend.

We will also be performing at the "Heart Of Gold" benefit concert at the State Theatre in State College on Saturday, January 28th.  This will be a bunch of local bands playing all Neil Young songs for the entire evening. Sounds like a perfect night to me!  This show benefits Easter Seals and the State Theatre. For further information, check out The State Theatre website.
Undergraduate Q&A
Thank you to Matthew Miller '12 for submitting his responses. Matthew is a senior from Latrobe, PA majoring in Communications Arts and Sciences with an Information Sciences and Technology Minor. He is set to graduate from Penn State this year.

In what ways do you think the fraternity as an institution is still relevant and worthwhile today?  What lessons have you learned throughout your time as an Omicron (if any)?

- Joining Phi Kappa Tau, I have a brotherhood and best friends for life! I can depend on my brothers whenever and for whatever I need. I have learned to work as a team; how to come together and complete goals. I have learned to hold a position and manage that along with school.
