Alumni Rundown

Every month, we will recognize an alumnus in our e-Letter. In March, we get to know a little more about Jason Birdsell...

Name: Jason Birdsell

Phi Tau Nickname: Gilligan

Pledge Class Year/Semester (Spring/Fall): Spring 1995 – “The Lost Boys”

Hometown: Mt. Pleasant, PA

Occupation: Manager – Business Process Outsourcing

Marital Status: Married

Children: Daughter Emily, 2.5 yrs.; Son Owen, 1 yr

Hobbies/Activities: With two young kids, there’s not much time left for hobbies after the workday/week is over. But, I still love to travel and I’m a sports nut, though I’m resigned to mostly watching these days.

Last visit to the Chapter House: Homecoming 2009

Favorite Phi Tau Memory: It’s terribly hard to pick just one. I genuinely loved so many memories. A favorite thing for me was the sharing of stories from the night before during lunch the next day. Some of the funniest stories ever told took place during lunch after a party night. I also have to mention parties with the band Steel City….The chants of “social” with brothers thrusting arms in the air to tap one another’s can…covers like ”Low Rider”, “Brown-eyed Girl”, “Blister in the Sun”….and the brothers really just partying together and ignoring the 700-800 other people in the house. It was pure euphoria and brotherhood…it was a Phi Tau party at its finest.

What do you miss most about your undergrad days?: The stories that were made and experienced. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have so many fun friends in one place where “anything goes”.

Best advice for the undergraduate brothers: Live in the house and soak up all of the atmosphere that you can. You will never again be able to share a place with so many young, fun and like-minded people. It’s the perfect recipe for memories that will last a lifetime!

Any message for your fellow alums: Stop by the house to see all of the improvements to the physical structure and to get to know the undergrads who are transforming the chapter and making it a place of which we can all be proud.
